Kurt's route to get to represent England Colleges U19's squad was when Bishop Burton's football team coaches put a number of players forward for the first set of trials to represent Yorkshire. The trial consisted of three games between four teams of randomly selected players, all nominated by their respective college from all around the Yorkshire area. Kurt then represented Yorkshire in the next set of trials held in Gateshead. This trial followed the same format as the previous trial but the other teams where representing the North East, North West And Lancashire regions. Kurt then went on to represent the North of England against the South of England in a final trial game held in Bristol behind closed doors, with only a total of 32 players(16 each team) and the England Colleges Management team present with a place in the final squad of 22 players to play for.
Kurt got the fantastic news that he had made it into the final squad with a first international against Australia in early Jan 2014.
The match against Australia U19's was held at Sutton Coldfield Town's ground near Birmingham, Kurt made his début in the starting line up and with the team sealing a 3-2 win it was an excellent day all round. The England Management team then informed the squad that it was their first win in a year so hopefully a sign of good things to come in their following games against Wales in early Feb and then in a International Tournament in Italt in mid-February'
Academy Manager Paul Sarel commented, "Everybody at the Club is delighted for Kurtis. He has worked tremendously hard and we are certain he will acquit himself well."
