Ferriby travel to Alfreton Town on Tuesday. Town were relegated at the end of last season and are not finding life too easy this season.

Alfreton are 12^th in National League North with 17 points and a negative goal difference. They have won three of their seven home games, losing two and drawing two. Interestingly they have conceded 20 goals, the same as The Villagers but have score just 19 times.

Ferriby put the disappointing performance at Nuneaton behind them when they beat Boston United at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Saturday.

The Villagers went behind twice bought back to lead 4-2 before a late Boston goal led to a nail-biting finish. This was a tremendous performance against a good Boston side. The match was a good advert for non-league football with two teams playing positive football and approaching the game in the right spirit.

Ferriby’s finishing was clinical and they deserved the win in the end. The only downside was an injury to Adam Nicklin who took a knock to the ankle during a goalmouth scramble. He had to be substituted by Tom Nicholson who was making his first competitive appearance since last season.

Manager Billy Heath commented,

“Saturday’s performance (against Boston United) was tremendous and a great result.

What is pleasing is that we were behind twice but showed the character to go two goals ahead. That shows the spirit in this team.

“We are a young team and we were a bit naive after going 4-2 up and let them back in it at 4-3. Having to replace a goalkeeper with 30 minutes left is also disruptive but Tom (Nicholson) and the defence performed well under pressure.

“We now need to build on this at Alfreton on Tuesday. As always, this will not be an easy game but we are generally playing well and fancy our chances against anybody.”

Adam Nicklin is doubtful for Tuesday. Central defender Danny Hone is still some way of being fit. Hopefully, Nathan Hotte should be available following injury although Heath may be tempted to give him a little longer to recover.
