Ferriby’s pre-season preparations got under way today. Steve Housham and Darryn Stamp had around two dozen players at the first pre-season training session. As always at these sessions, there was a mix of old and new faces. Housh and Stampy were pleased with the way the session went. Both they and the players will be looking forward to the pre-season game which will really show how those players not yet on contracts can perform.
Darryn commented tha, in some ways, thsi pre-season is not much different to last in assembling a squad,
“The spine of the team had been ripped out at the end of the previous season and the same has happened this close season. Usually you try to build your team around a spine of keeper, central defence, central midfield and strikers. We’ve had to replace players in those key positions on both occasions. We are getting there, but it takes time.”
