Ferriby deserved this win. They were the stronger team and pressed Barton throughout the game. The Villagers could have won by a larger margin as they went close on a number of occasions.
The first goal after 27 minutes was perhaps a little fortunate. Ben Middleton’s quick free-kick to Adam Porritt found the Barton sleeping and Porritt’s cross-cum-shot went in at the far post.
The second goal came from Alfonso Mensa after 54 minutes when he latched on to a through-ball to hit the ball past the advancing Charlie Holden.
regular substitutions by both sides made any sort of continuity difficult but Ferriby retained control of the game.
Barton had only two on-target afforts, both from Rob Petch. The first was turned round by Craig ellison one-haned as he dived full-length. The second was deflected for a corner.
