350 people packed the Willerby Manor Hotel on Friday 30th January for North Ferriby United’s annual Sportsman’s Dinner.
This year’s event was the most successful in the long history of these special evenings.
The compere for the evening was Vince Miller who has carried out this role at most of Ferriby’s Dinners over the years.
The guest speaker was John Hartson, the former Wales and Premier League footballer, who is now a BBC pundit. He enthralled the audience with his superbly told stories about his career and himself. Hartson, as well as being a highly talented footballer, overcame testicular cancer and now spends much of his time raising money for the charity set-up in his name, The John Hartson Foundation.
Comedy was provided by comedian Gary Marshall whose unique style and deadpan delivery went down well with the audience.
North Ferriby Chairman Les Hare commented, “It was an amazing and successful evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by everybody. John Hartson was magnificent and he was extremely well-supported by Gary Marshall. As ever, compere Vince Miller made sure the evening ran well.”
